Morning by the Sea
Let me just start by saying that this is my first guitar piece that I have written, I didn't really know what I was doing when I began writing this piece but as I began to write the first few lines of music I got into the swing of writing for the guitar and it was a lot more fun that I thought it would be. I always begin composing with a theme and image behind the work just to guide me in a general direction to get started. I began writing this piece with the scene of a campfire in mind, I wanted to write a piece that you would play around the campfire with your loved ones. Although it doesn't exactly fit into that category now the piece is 'finished', it was a good foundation to get me started. My recent trip down to Melbourne and Great Ocean Road where my cousin and I went camping also helped me compose this piece. The warmth of being around a fire as well as the silence and loneliness of being in the bush, far away from civilisation. It's a mix of content happiness and and eerie but welcome stillness.
